The Forest

Where border patrols, hunting, and the occasional border fight occurs.

"Son, I have a mission that StarClan gave me...and I want you to look after the Clan while I'm gone. If I don't return in up to 5 days, you will be EarthClan's next leader." Earthstar mewed after they were far away from the Clan and camp. No need to beat around the bush.

"You will return. Please dont leave me, and Nightfrost." Stonestep mewed, a little panicked at the thought of himself becoming leader without experience or knowledge from his father. "I cant live in a world without you, you are my father."

I will always be there in your heart. And soon you may very well be Stonestar." Earthstar mewed, seeming kind of sad. "Tell your mother that you guys were everything to me and if I do not return that I will watch over y'all forever. I must go now." he finished. Then, he started to bound away into the morning sunlight.

Stonestep felt the sudden urge to bound down with Earthstar. He then tilted his head back and let out a yowl of saddness that echoed through the entire forest. Stonestep realized that he may never see his father again.

When Earthstar heard his son's pain-filled yowl, he spead up.

Stonestep saw one final look of his father's pelt and then just sat there, Earthstar's scent already beginning to fade away.

Earthstar stopped dead in his tracks when he scented the cats he was looking for was coming toward him. It was his exbest friends, Treestrike and Sparkstorm. Treestrike was a brown tom with green eyes and Sparkstorm was a golden and gray tom with amber eyes. They were now his enemies, the ones he was destined to kill.

Stonestep couldnt wait any longer, he couldnt just sit there and wonder if Earthstar is alright or not. So Stonestep got to his paws and started bounding extrememly fast hoping to catch his father when he was still padding.

"So we meet again, Earthstep." Treestrike and Sparkstorm hissed together. "I am now Earthstar. And am here to finish the fight we had over deputyship before you go after my son." Earthstar said, scarily calm.

Finally after padding through the forset, he started to hear voices and smell scents that he never smelled and heard before. But there was on scent that stonestep did reconized. Earthstar! He then peered around a large oak tree and saw two strange cats and then he saw his father.

"Oh, now we have the new, oh-so-honorable leader of EarthClan! Well, I see you didn't come alone!" Treestrike sneered, gesturing toward Stonestep. "Who is that, your little follower?" Sparkstorm snorted.

Stonestep then bursted of from his hiding spot and his massive body towering over the two cats. "Actually I am his son!" He yowled, wondering if Earthstar was mad at him for following him.

Earthstar cursed at himself. "Stonestep. Stay back." he commanded. Though he hated to command any cat, it had to be done or his son would get hurt..or killed. And it wouldn't be a quick death. It'd be painful and take days. That's how cruel and twisted these cats were. "Yes, listen to your daddy and let the big toms fight, kit." Treestrike taunted. "Shut up." Earthstar growled with force he'd never used before.

"I'm no kit!" Stonestep yowled, but obeying his father's command.

"Let's get the fight started." Earthstar sighed, unsheathing his sharp, powerful claws and baring his long, lethal fangs. This was the first time Earthstar had fought in front of his son.

Stonestep watched as the two other cats started to circle around his father.

Sparkstorm the growled, "My pleasure!"

Earthstar stood calmly, his green eyes unreadable.

Stonestep sent a silent prayer to StarClan, hoping his father would come out safly.

Sparkstorm made the first move by launching himself onto the leader's back and deeply raking his claws onto him.

Earthstar winced a bit and rolled onto his back. He tore himself away from the claws that tore at him and smacked Sparkstorm with unsheathed claws, hard.

Sparkstorm hissed and spat when he was thrown off, but got back up in a matter of seconds.

Treestrike came to Sparkstorm's side and started to charge Earthstar. Earthstar smiled a bit and slipped under the cats' bellys, landing where he could use his back legs on Sparkstorm and front on Treestrike. His claws dug in deep.

Sparkstorm yowled in pain then twisted around to bite Earthstar in the leg.
