"I wanted to tell you....how much I love you." Darkheart mewed at first. "I cant stand to see you with that piece of nothing, Coldfang. Those kits will be weak because of him." Darkheart spat.

"No they won't! They'll be beautiful and the strongest cats this clan has ever seen! Don't talk badly of Coldfang!" she hissed angrily

"I am the one you should be with! I could protect you and our kits! I truly do love you Icestep!" Darkheart mewed.

"I love you too, Darkheart. Just not the same way as you love me. You're like a brother to me, not a mate." she explained, the pain in her flank getting worse. "Coldfang!" she shrieked.

Coldfang heard his mate's cry and burst into the nursery. He saw Darkheart and growled more menacingly than he ever has before. Coldfang flung himslf onto Darkheart and bit him, a warning to stay away.

Darkheart was sad to hear what Icestep said, all he knew was that he WOULD be with her, somehow.

Icestep laid, panting. "The kits are coming!" she mewed.

(I'll take Darkheart back lol)

Darkheart growled and unsheathed his claws.

Coldfang started to panic and mewed, "It will be okay." He then turned to Darkheart and growled, "Stay away."

Darkheart stepped forward challengingly. "I'll do what I like." he hissed.

Icestep groaned. The first kit was coming!

Coldfang then looked back at Darkheart and growled, "These are our kits, get back!" His gaze soffened as he looked back at Icestep, "You are doing good."

"Thanks." she sighed. The kit slid out. Then another. She was done. Darkheart growled.

Coldfang gasped in pride and looked down at his kits. Then he curled himself very close by Icestep. He looked over at Darkheart and drew his lips back.

Darkheart sneered. "Those runts..." his eyes softened as he saw one that looked exactly like Icestep.

When Darkheart started to talk about his kits, he drew his tail over the nest.

Icestep licked the kits and beamed proudly.

Coldfang held Darkheart's gaze and then went back to mew to Icestep, "What do you want to name them?"

"I'll name this one Dark-kit for his dark ginger pelt." she mewed, nudging the dark kit that looked nothing like it's parents.

Coldfang narrowed his eyes at the name Icestep chose for the kit. Somehow he was a bit curious on how Darkkit looked nothing like his parents.

Icestep's eyes looked scared as she remembered who was really Darkkit's father.

"Is something wrong?" Coldfang pricked his ears as he asked her the question.

"Ah, you didn't tell him?" Darkheart asked wickedly.

"No. I didn't" Icestep hissed as Darkheart padded toward Darkkit.

"Told me what?" Coldfang hissed menacingly, as he got up and stood in front of Icestep and his kits, blocking Darkheart from them.

Coldfang couldnt believe what he was hearing, "What?! You never told me, Icestep! I thought you trusted me enough to tell me everything, but i guess not." Coldfang mewed, saddened more than he ever has been.

"I couldn't bring myself to tell you. I thought you'd hate me." Icestep looked down at her kits, her blue eyes miserable.

"I could never hate you, Icestep. But I would have been hurt at first but...."" Coldfang voice trailed off as he got choked up in emotion.
